Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (225)
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar (150g)
  • 3/4 cup Brown Sugar (150g)
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour (315g)
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (340g)
  • 1/2 cup Optional: Chopped Walnuts (60g)

Instructions
 

  • Preparation
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Creaming the Butter and Sugars
    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Adding Eggs and Vanilla
    Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Mixing Dry Ingredients
    In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combining Wet and Dry Ingredients
    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Adding Mix-Ins
    Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) with a spatula.
  • Shaping the Cookies
    Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  • Baking
    Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are slightly soft. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
